NINE NINE: WEAVING HOPE
ninē-ninē is a women’s collective of weavers and seamstresses based in South Lombok, specializing in creating eco-friendly products from upcycled Bendang (Batik), traditional batik fabrics often used by local women.
The collective focuses on empowering women by providing opportunities to utilize their exceptional weaving and sewing skills to support their families. Committed to sustainability, ninē-ninē repurposes second-hand Bendang fabrics from the team’s villages, giving new life to these materials. The group emphasizes community, collaboration, and the importance of women supporting each other.
Through their craft, ninē-ninē promotes both environmental responsibility and women’s empowerment in Lombok.
